Wicklesham is well served by footpaths and bridleways, which form part of the circular walks you can take from Faringdon.

The nearest route to Faringdon is the footpath that crosses the A420 near the roundabout. This joins the main bridleway, where you can travel east towards Stanford Road and Shellingford, or west towards Little Coxwell and Fernham.

Go east to explore the old railway line and enjoy the wooded glades and wildflower margins. The footpaths and bridleways pass through the centre of fields, but we have provided alternative routes for cyclists and for those who prefer the sights and sounds of the field edges.

Go west for Coles Pits. Here you can enjoy magnificent views across the Vale towards Didcot and Swindon. During medieval times, sand was quarried here from pits and mixed with the clay beneath to make mill stones. These stones are sometimes brought up during autumn cultivations.

While walking, please remember to respect the wildlife-only areas of the farm. We have created lots of conservation areas – woodlands, meadows and field edges that are home to many farmland birds and animals. Please keep to the permitted paths and keep dogs under control at all times – wildlife thrives much better if left undisturbed.
